Going to Dance Class .
March 9th, 2010 by Dean

Not just popular for adults these days, dance classes are on the increase for children, and with so many different kinds of dance to choose from, they are spoilt for choice!.

The number one dance for young girls is probably ballet. Girls as young as three, have started to perfect the art of ballet and students wanting to be professional ballet dancers one day, will have to train long and hard and be very dedicated to the dance.

Tap and Jazz dancing are based on ballet, so a good understanding of ballet is important if a varied choice of dance is preferred. salsa and Street have also become more popular over recent years with street dance groups and salsa dance groups springing up all over the place!

Thanks to the UK TV show ‘Has Britain Got Talent?’, street dancing has become more popular as a young dance act came number 1, and how can we forget the traditional rock n roll and ballroom style dance.

Many more adults are joining salsa dance classes where the style is more vibrant and sexy and with clever footwork. Salsa is a very energetic type of dance where you will have lots of fun. The traditional ballroom dancing has also seen an increase of interest again thanks to the popular TV show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. A fantastic way in which to meet new people, ballroom dancing is good for muscle toning, increases energy levels and is known to relieve stress.

Whatever type or style of dance you choose make sure you choose a good, professional dance school. The class should never be more than fifteen to twenty students at a time, as one teacher really cannot devote enough time to each student when there is more. If you are choosing a dance class for your child, ensure the dance classes are not too large as your child may feel out of her depth and the instructor may well miss a privileged talent.
